Ahhh.... Charleston. (AKA "Chucktown", the "Holy City", the "Big Sweet Grass Basket") Whatever name you call it, its charm remains true. I first had the opportunity to visit this great city 2 years ago and fell in love with it! This summer Spencer and I had the chance to vacation there with some friends who were going and we weren't about to pass it up! While we were there I also got to snap some portraits of this sweet family as we walked around the city one afternoon.
We had so much fun going on walks, spending time on the beach, watching the sunset... but mostly just spent our time eating food. Oh, the FOOD in Charleston! In our short time there we hit up an amazing seafood place on the water (Fleet Landing), had some of the best BBQ ever (Lewis Barbecue), a gourmet donut shop- ("Glazed" get the fluffernutter donut!), brunch at Poogan's Porch (which is a must), some unique Israeli cuisine (Butcher and Bee) ,as well as Revelry Brewing Co. and Belgian Gelato in between... just to name a few ;)
We also went to visit the famous 'Angel Oak Tree' on Johns Island which is estimated to be at least 400-500 years old, thought to be one of the oldest living things in our country! I had been there once before and it is definitely in the top 10 things to do when visiting Charleston. Added bonus that it's free!
Around every corner is something to catch your eye, whether it be a lovely antebellum home, fountain, garden, or just a unique gate or flower box. There's also great shopping as well as plantations to visit and festivals and events regularly going on around the city.
Here are a few more snapshots of our friends, Ryan and Sarah, as well as their sweet baby Abigail. We are so grateful for their friendship and generously letting us take part in their family vacation. If you ever get the chance to visit Charleston... seriously take it! You won't be disappointed!
